Mariafe is originally from Lima, Peru, and she graduated from American University in Washington DC in 2017. During her senior year, MaFe joined AvalonBay where she served for 5 years in various roles in Operations and Development. In her most recent role as Development Associate, she assisted in multifamily projects in the DMV area. Outside of work, MaFe enjoys learning about other cultures while traveling abroad with her husband and two children and going for long scenic drives. This summer, MaFe will be joining the Greystar Development team in Raleigh as their Summer Intern.
Weston graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2015, where he served as Student Body President and University Trustee. Prior to business school, Weston worked in managing the global real estate portfolio of a privately held firm based in St. Louis, MO. There he was involved in over $120M of lease and sale transactions. In his free time, Weston enjoys playing golf and traveling.
Katie graduated in 2020 with a BS in Real Estate & Urban Economic Studies from the University of Connecticut. Katie started out working in New York City with Buzzuto Property Management and transitioned to a real estate law firm work as a Closing Advisor. As a Class of 2024, Candidate, Katie is concentrating in Real Estate Development and will be interning as a Summer Associate with Trammell Crow Company in Boston, MA. In her free time, she enjoys walking, yoga, and traveling.
Shawn is a 2016 graduate from James Madison University where he majored in finance. After graduation, he worked in consulting at PwC for four years and then spent two years at Fannie Mae working in risk management and product management. His family is in the construction business in Washington, D.C., where Shawn developed a passion for commercial real estate. He is passionate about giving back to the school and community and will be looking forward to working with our corporate partners in his role as VP of Corporate Relations, Mid-Atlantic.
Katie graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2016 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following graduation, she worked at a transportation technology company in Indianapolis in product management and strategy. Alongside her MBA, she is pursuing a Master of City and Regional Planning degree at UNC. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, trying new recipes, and traveling. This summer, Katie will be interning at McKinsey & Company in Charlotte.
Originally from Harleysville, PA, John Rice received his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and studied Criminology and Business Administration. Prior to business school, John served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps. John is concentrating in Real Estate and Entrepreneurship and will be interning as a Summer Associate with Johnson Development Associates in Spartanburg, SC. In his free time, John is an avid fitness enthusiast and reader.
Elizabeth is originally from Charlotte, NC and graduated from Wofford College in 2018 with a degree in Spanish and Business-Economics. Prior to Kenan-Flagler, she spent four years in Washington D.C. working as a client service associate for Brown Advisory, an independent investment management and strategic advisory firm. In her free time, “Beecy” enjoys spending time at her family’s beach house in DeBordieu, SC, traveling, and finding any excuse to make a charcuterie board. This summer she will be interning with Greystar’s Investments team in Charleston.
Curtis is originally from Greenville, South Carolina and graduated from Clemson in 2016. After graduation, he was a public-school teacher in Charlotte teaching 7th grade math. Prior to enrolling at UNC, he was working for Berkeley Capital Advisors with their multi-tenant retail investment sales team. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling playing soccer and golf, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.
Bess is originally from Charlotte, NC and earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from Davidson College. Prior to business school she worked for a waste management consulting firm doing data analytics, project management, and sustainability reporting. She came to UNC to pursue further interest in sustainable economics, with an interest in Real Estate stemming from her family business in development. She will be interning with Greystar under the Director of Sustainability over the summer. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, and avidly watching UNC + Davidson sports.
Andrew graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2012 with a degree in Finance, and worked at CBRE as a commercial real estate appraiser in Minneapolis for 9 year prior to coming to Kenan-Flagler. Andrew is pursuing concentrations in Real Estate and Energy. He is also the VP of Student Activities for the Class of 2024.
